[Naturally, Buffy calling to tell her that Dean made it to Cleveland is an invitation. One, because this is Buffy and when is a conversation with her not an invitation to troll her life, and two, she needed to keep an eye on her champion. She couldn't really do that from a diner in the middle of nowhere, now could she?

So this is Cordelia, bouncing up the stairs to the house that Buffy had left her with, and knocking on the door. It's the middle of the day. Someone should probably be home.]

[and with that she's inside, dropping her bag at the door. While she's looking away, Buffy's coming down the stairs to see what the ruckus is all about, and ... turning around and trying to make a break for it because she's spotted.]

[he, on the other hand, notes Buffy right away, since he's turned to try and get the hell away from the crazy for fear of it catching -- and that's not a good sign. also completely and totally his fault for letting her in in the first place. balls]

[well, looks like it's on him to run interference. and that in mind, he turns back to Cordelia and puts himself between her and the stairs]

[Cordelia glances back to him, before raising an eyebrow.]

Okay. I need to talk to Buffy. Or to whoever's pulling Watcher duty around here.

[verymature]

Well, considerin' I don't even know what the hell a Watcher is ... [that may or may not be a lie, but either way, it works great for stalling!]

[it helps that he has back up now, too, even if the back up is supremely creepy. Sylar's lurking in the doorway to the kitchen, watching Cordelia very carefully]

Watcher. The one with the books and the knowledge? Like Giles or Dawn, or someone?

[verymature]

[if he looks like he was just punched in the gut -- his first thought was of Sam -- he hides it well] Yeah, I'm not sure we have one of those.

Slayers don't wander around without Watchers. It's the circle of Slaying.

Okay, well, lemme me rephrase ... far as I know, I haven't met one, so ... [he shrugs] Can't help you.

[letsbe_clear]

Yes, well, that's why you need to let me talk to Buffy.

[heroslayer]

[and from where he's been lurking in the doorway] Why do you need to talk to her?

[letsbe_clear]

[She glances over to the lurker, and makes a face.]

Who are you?

[heroslayer]

Someone who's lending a hand around here. [he'd say he was Buffy's friend, but their relationship is ... well, he's not sure what their relationship is. she's been good to him, both in letting him stay after finding out he used to be a bad guy and otherwise, but ... oh, screw it. he considers her a friend, so that counts for something] A friend.

[a beat] My name is Sylar.

[letsbe_clear]

Cordelia Chase. Buffy and I go way back.

[she glances back to Dean.]

I'm also supposed to be helping this one be a human being again, but I'm trying to appeal that decision.

[heroslayer]

Nice to meet you.

[he glances between her and Dean briefly, curious, then decides asking about that can wait. he's more interested in finding out what she wants, why there seemed to be some kind of fight before she actually got into the house -- did he mention he wishes he had his hearing, still? -- and why Buffy bolted when she saw her. he was lurking long enough to catch that, after all, and if she's here to make trouble of any kind ... well, he's a little bit rabid about protecting the people he considers friends now, since he has so few of them]

[and so, that in mind ... ] I'm guessing this is more than just ... stopping by to catch up over a drink.

No. I had a vision and trouble is coming. I don't know when, I just know that it's soon.

So I figured I'd do what I do best and issue the warning.

[heroslayer]

A vision. [he tilts his head to one side, frowning as he studies her. she doesn't feel like a special to him, but her saying that she had a vision didn't set off his lie detection, either. which either means she's nuts or this is another supernatural thing. it could go either way, really, even factoring in Buffy's reaction]

[he debates it for another quick moment, then decides he'll bite] What kind of trouble?

[letsbe_clear]

Some kind of demon. I wasn't sure what kind, which is why I needed the Watchers to get their research on. This was so much easier when Wes was in house.

[ ... Wes. She misses him.]

[heroslayer]

[he's pretty sure no one's ever mentioned a Wes to him, but he supposes it doesn't matter]

I'll go find Buffy and bring her down. [and by bring her down, he means go find her, ask her what the hell's going on, and assuming she doesn't want to see Cordelia, offer to get her out of the house and go downstairs and pretend to be her or find a way of getting rid of Cordelia or whatever] Stay here.

[kiss_evilgoodbye]

[Cordelia waves a hand and will do just that, giving Dean as much of the evil eye as he is probably giving her.

Buffy, on the other hand, is debating the merits of climbing out her window and running for the hills. It's one thing to be on the phone with Cordelia once in a while, but having her here? Recipe for disaster.

[heroslayer]

[he stands in her doorway for a moment when he finds her, a frown on his lips, and then] You know ... there are easier ways of getting out of here than jumping out the window.

[kiss_evilgoodbye]

[She glances back at him with a bit of a sheepish look.]

Maybe. but it is the least noticeable.

[she then sighs and glances towards the door.]

What does she want?

[heroslayer]

Can't argue that. [a beat] She says she had a vision about a demon coming our way.

[kiss_evilgoodbye]

[ ... Oh. If it's a vision ... ]

Guess we've got some work to do.

[heroslayer]

[ ... that ... was not the reaction he was expecting, and he arches an eyebrow] I take it that's not why you thought she was here?

No one can truly predict the whims of Cordelia. She could just be here because she's bored with being stuck by herself and wants to be part of a group again. I'm not saying I wouldn't take her in every time, but ... she's someone who's better handled in much smaller doses.
